The customer contacted us to handle an emergency water damage mitigation response following a washing machine malfunction, where the washer drain hose disconnected from the main drain line. The resulting high-volume water escape heavily saturated the laundry room and migrated rapidly through the property, affecting the HVAC closet, kitchen cabinetry, living room, and surrounding flooring. Because the subfloor consists of an engineered plywood material underneath a luxury vinyl plank (LVP) top layer, there is a severe risk of trapped moisture causing structural bucking, floor failure, and mold growth if left unaddressed.
Our team provided an immediate water extraction, sanitation, and advanced structural drying solution to stabilize the property. Our team extracted all standing surface water from the vinyl plank flooring and used targeted moisture mapping to trace the water migration behind the kitchen cabinets and under the subflooring. We applied commercial-grade antimicrobials to prevent microbial development in the trapped, semi-porous engineered plywood cavities. To finish, we deployed an industrial drying configuration consisting of air movers and dehumidifiers; however, because the occupant repeatedly turned off the equipment over a consecutive two-day period, we actively monitored the site, re-educated the client on the severe risks of secondary structural damage, and re-established continuous thermal evaporation protocols to ensure the subfloor and cabinetry return to safe baseline standards.
